At the September general meeting of the Central Trades and Labor Council, incumbent Jefferson County Sheriff John Burns was unanimously endorsed by the full board.

Sheriff Burns’s relationship with labor stretches back nearly 30 years. During his speech, Sheriff Burns looked back fondly to his days as President of the local chapter of Council 82. He also expressed in his opening comments his appreciation for the dedication that the members of Central Trades have shown to our community.

This endorsement will bring with it support from locals from across the region such as Communication Workers of America, United Auto workers, Teamsters, Operating Engineers, International Brotherhood of Electrical workers, Laborers, Bricklayers, CSEA, SEIU 1199, United Steel workers, PEF and many others.

Sheriff Burns spoke after the endorsement and stated:

"I'm proud that my efforts have been recognized by so many hard working community leaders from across the region. My goal has always been to take care of our community and this endorsement reinforces my commitment to protect and serve. "
